About SRVS
Public Service in your Community.
Women and men of the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad (SVRS), and all the other fire and rescue companies in Rappahannock County, are among the many, often invisible, heroes who serve us right here at home. They, too, must deal with exposure to traumatic experiences, burn out, sleep deprivation and multiple interruptions in daily routine. Their reward, and best form of thank you, is seeing a patient make an expedient healthy recovery from an injury or illness, all as a direct result of quick intervention.
SVRS is an organization that serves residents and visitors with 24-hour emergency medical services, at both the basic and advanced life support level. They are the “other end” of 911 when you call for help for sick or injured family members, victims of accidents or motor vehicle crashes. They work hand in hand with local fire departments and are dispatched to calls by the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Department Dispatchers. They are neighbors volunteering to help other neighbors, friends and strangers. There are no out-of-pocket charges for Rappahannock residents for field treatment and transportation to an appropriate emergency medical facility.
County emergency medical service providers undergo rigorous training classes on a continuing basis to ensure that the best possible patient care is rendered in sometimes the worst possible weather or other environmental conditions. They are also involved in the community at various events providing a visible presence, teaching methods of safety, accident prevention, as well as demonstrating the emergency equipment that you, members of our community, have helped purchase.
If you are interested in giving back to your community, consider a public service organization such as the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad. You get the training you need to be a valuable asset to your community, but also skills that may lead to employment opportunities.
